Gateron

Gateron has been making switches since 2000 and is the default OEM for a large share of the pre-built market — many boards from other brands on this site ship with Gateron switches inside.

Under its own name we track 28 switches and four stabilizers. The catalogue is notable for what it leaves out: no clicky switches at all, only linear, tactile and both silent variants. Eighteen of the 28 come lubed from the factory, the median price is $0.29, and the average actuation force is 52 gf — the same as Cherry and meaningfully heavier than Akko at 43 gf. If you want a known-quantity linear with no surprises, this is the shelf people mean when they say "just get Gaterons".
