Disclosures
How KeebDepot makes money, how we keep our recommendations independent, and how we generate review summaries.
KeebDepot is a free product-comparison site for mechanical keyboards, switches, keycaps, and stabilizers. We are reader-supported: when you click a link to a retailer on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This page explains exactly how that works, which programs we participate in, how we pick what to recommend, and how our review summaries are generated.
We wrote this page to meet the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255, as revised in 2023) and the European Union’s Digital Services Act (Regulation 2022/2065). If anything below is unclear, email us at [email protected] and we will fix the wording.
Affiliate programs we participate in
KeebDepot earns commissions through the following affiliate programs. Every outbound “Buy” button on our site may be an affiliate link, unless it is explicitly marked rel="sponsored" for a paid placement (we do not currently sell paid placements — see below).
- Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. KeebDepot is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated Amazon sites.
- KBDfans Affiliate Program.
- NovelKeys Affiliate Program.
- EPOMAKER Affiliate Program.
- MechKeys Affiliate Program.
- Lofree Affiliate Program.
- Drop Affiliate Program.
Commissions from these programs are KeebDepot’s primary source of revenue. We do not run display ads, do not take payment for positive reviews, and do not sell user data.
Editorial independence
The order in which products appear on KeebDepot — including our comparison tables, filtered listings, search results, and the “Best” badge we award to category winners — is determined by our editorial scoring methodology. It is not influenced by the size of any affiliate commission, and placement cannot be purchased.
Specifically:
- Affiliate commission rates have no weight in our ranking algorithm. A product from a brand that pays 2% sits next to a product from a brand that pays 15% on identical terms.
- Brands cannot pay to add, remove, or reorder products. We do not accept “sponsorship” arrangements that alter our listings.
- The “Best” badge is reassigned whenever new data (user reviews, specs, price changes) justifies it. Historical badge placements are logged publicly in our changelog.
- If a retailer offers us an increased commission in exchange for promotion, we decline and note the offer in our internal log. Any exception would be disclosed inline on the affected page.
If a page ever contains a paid placement in the future, it will be marked at the top of that page with the label “Sponsored” in the same font size and color as the surrounding body text, in English, and before any affiliate link appears. EU visitors will additionally see the commercial-communication label required by Article 26 of the Digital Services Act.
How our review summaries are generated
KeebDepot does not publish long-form product reviews written by individual journalists. Instead, each product page shows a short community review summary that is generated by a large language model (LLM) from publicly available customer reviews on Amazon and Best Buy.
You should read these summaries as aggregated reader sentiment, not as a first-person product test. Specifically:
- We do not alter the substance of the sentiment. The LLM is prompted to surface the most frequently mentioned pros and cons and to attribute sentiment ratios honestly.
- We do not cherry-pick positive reviews. The summary pulls from the full public review corpus available at generation time.
- Summaries are regenerated when the underlying review pool changes materially. The “Last updated” date on each summary reflects the generation time.
- Specifications (actuation force, materials, layout, etc.) are pulled from manufacturer data and are labeled separately from the LLM-generated sentiment.
- We do not use LLMs to fabricate or embellish reviews, and we do not present any machine-generated text as a first-person human experience.
If you believe a summary misrepresents a product — including if you are the manufacturer — email [email protected] and we will review and, where appropriate, regenerate or remove the summary.
Data, privacy, and tracking
KeebDepot is built to minimize data collection.
- No user accounts. The site has no registration and no user login.
- No tracking cookies. We do not set advertising, retargeting, or analytics cookies that identify individual visitors. The only cookies we set are strictly necessary for site functionality (e.g., theme preference).
- No IP address storage. Our servers do not retain visitor IP addresses in application logs beyond the time needed to mitigate abuse.
- Outbound affiliate links may pass a tracking parameter (e.g.,
?tag=keebdepot-20) so the retailer can attribute a sale to us. Once you land on the retailer’s site, that site’s own cookie and privacy policy applies — we have no visibility into your activity there.
Removal and correction requests
If you are a manufacturer, retailer, or rights holder and you want content about your product removed, corrected, or updated:
- For factual corrections (specs, price, availability): email [email protected] with the product URL and the change requested. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
- For takedown / right-to-be-forgotten requests (including GDPR Article 17 and CCPA deletion requests): email [email protected].
- For commercial disputes (trademark, copyright): email [email protected].
